The Queens Beast Series at the Royal Mint was introduced in 2016 to celebrate the heraldic beasts that have dominated the seals and coats of arms for the British monarchy for nearly 1,000 years. The first release captured the most important beast in the series, the Lion of England. The all-powerful heraldic beast of the series, the Lion of England was the very first heraldic animal incorporated into the kingdoms first recognised Royal Arms. The series crosses centuries to showcase other heraldic creatures introduced by various monarchs of the realm. On the obverse side of 2021 British Gold Queens Beast Collection Coins, you will find Jody Clarks effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Depicting the monarch at the age of 89, this portrait shows Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown upon her head.
