Description

Description

The 5oz Year of the Goat coin is a substantial 61.00 mm piece struck by The Perth Mint from five troy ounces of 99.99% pure silver. Natasha Muhl’s reverse design presents a mature goat, a young goat and a baby goat grazing peacefully beneath a plum blossom tree, drawing on the auspicious phrase “Three Goats Bring Bliss” to evoke the end of winter, the arrival of spring and prosperous new beginnings. The plum blossom represents purity, resilience and hope. The Chinese character for Goat, the inscription GOAT 2027 and The Perth Mint’s P mintmark appear alongside the scene, and the obverse features the Dan Thorne effigy of King Charles III. A micro engraved letter is worked into the reverse as a security feature, detectable only under magnification.

The larger format shows the detail of the engraving to its best advantage, which is why the 5oz is favoured by collectors who buy for the artwork as much as the metal. It also carries a lower premium per ounce than the smaller sizes. No mintage limit applies, with production closing at the end of 2027 when The Perth Mint declares the official mintage.

Why buy from Jaggards

Jaggards has been trading precious metals from the Sydney CBD since 1963, more than sixty years in bullion and numismatics under the same name. We have sold the Australian Lunar Series since its inception in 1996, across all three series, and we are an authorised distributor of Perth Mint ranges. When you buy a lunar coin from us, you are buying from a dealer with a verifiable trading history and a direct line to the mint, not an anonymous online storefront.

Every coin is sourced through authorised channels and guaranteed genuine in the weight and purity stated. Our pricing moves with live spot rates, so you can see exactly what you are paying over the metal before you commit. Buy online for secure delivery, or collect in person at our Pitt Street showroom. We also buy back bullion and rare coins, so the coin you buy today has a known exit, and for clients who would rather not store metal at home, we offer secure vaulting through our Secure Vaulting service. Buying, storing, valuing and selling, all through one Sydney dealer.

About the 2027 Year of the Goat Lunar Series III collection

The Australian Lunar Series is The Perth Mint’s longest running and most collected coin program. Series III began in 2020 with the Year of the Mouse and runs a full twelve year cycle to 2031, each year bringing an entirely new design for the corresponding animal of the Chinese zodiac. The 2027 Year of the Goat is the eighth release. Those born under the Goat in 2027, 2015, 2003, 1991 and 1979 are said to be gentle, creative and compassionate, admired for their calm nature and artistic talent.

The release comes in five silver sizes, 1/2oz, 1oz, 2oz, 5oz and 1 kilo, all 99.99% pure and all carrying Natasha Muhl’s “Three Goats Bring Bliss” design with the micro engraved authentication feature. The 1oz is capped at 300,000 coins worldwide; the other sizes have no mintage limit, with production closing at the end of 2027 when The Perth Mint declares each official mintage. Lunar coins attract silver buyers and zodiac set collectors at the same time, and that dual demand is why earlier releases have historically traded above their silver content.
