Description

Description

The 2oz Year of the Goat gold coin sits between the 1oz and the 10oz, struck by The Perth Mint from two troy ounces of 99.99% pure gold on a 40.90 mm canvas. Wade Robinson’s reverse shows a majestic goat standing proudly on a mountain plain with rugged terrain and a solitary tree in the distance, together with the Chinese character for Goat, the inscription GOAT 2027 and The Perth Mint’s P mintmark. The obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of King Charles III and the $200 denomination. The micro engraved authentication feature is included within the reverse design.

The 2oz is the natural step up for buyers who want more weight than the 1oz without committing to the 10oz, and the larger diameter shows the mountain plain scene far better than the fractional sizes. No mintage limit applies, with the official mintage declared once production closes.

Each coin is presented in a Perth Mint acrylic capsule to protect your collectible.

About the 2027 Year of the Goat Lunar Series III

The Australian Lunar Series is The Perth Mint’s longest-running and most collected coin program. Series III began in 2020 with the Year of the Mouse and runs a full twelve year cycle to 2031, each year bringing an entirely new design for the corresponding animal of the Chinese zodiac. The 2027 Year of the Goat is the eighth release. Those born under the Goat in 2027, 2015, 2003, 1991 and 1979 are said to be gentle, creative and compassionate, admired for their calm nature and artistic talent.

The 2027 release spans all three metals. Silver in five sizes from 1/2oz to 1 kilo at 99.99%, carrying Natasha Muhl’s “Three Goats Bring Bliss” design; gold in seven sizes from 1/20oz to 10oz at 99.99%, and a single 1oz platinum coin at 99.95%, both carrying Wade Robinson’s mountain plain design. Mintages are capped at 5,000 platinum, 30,000 for the 1oz gold and 300,000 for the 1oz silver, with the other sizes unlimited until production closes. Lunar coins draw bullion buyers and zodiac set collectors at once, which is why earlier releases have historically traded above their metal content.
