Designed by Jennifer McKenna, the reverse features a meticulously detailed oriental dragon, snarling with open claws and intricately scaled wings, rendered in a minted impression on 99.99% pure gold. The design is completed with the “2026” inscription and The Perth Mint’s signature “P” mintmark. The obverse bears Dan Thorne’s effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, set against radiant lines, alongside the inscription “CHARLES III AUSTRALIA” and the coin’s weight, purity, and $100 AUD monetary denomination.
With a maximum mintage of just 8,888 pieces, this coin carries more than collector appeal. In Chinese culture, the number eight is synonymous with prosperity and good fortune, making the mintage itself a deliberate nod to the Eastern tradition the design honours.
