Description

Description

This was the first issue for Queen Elizabeth II. A silver coin features the Merino Ram Design on the reverse and a crowned young Elizabeth II on the obverse. These were produced for official purposes only, at the request of the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York for their currency museum. No sets were struck for the Australian market; a total of 12 sets were minted at the Melbourne Mint, which comprised five coins: florin, shilling, sixpence, threepence, and penny.
