The 1926-M George V Sovereign is one of the most compelling dates in the entire Australian sovereign series — a coin whose scarcity is matched by its historical context and whose appearance in Extremely Fine condition makes it a genuinely significant offering. By 1926 the Melbourne Mint was in the closing chapter of its sovereign-striking history; production would cease entirely at Melbourne after 1931 as the Great Depression strangled gold coinage across the world.
