Struck at the Sydney Mint, the 1897S Veil Head Half Sovereign is a beautiful representation of Queen Victoria’s final portrait on Australian coinage. The ‘Veil Head’ or ‘Old Head’ design, introduced in 1893, symbolises the Queen’s later years and features a more mature, stately profile draped in a widow’s veil.

This coin is presented in Uncirculated condition, showing strong detail and original mint lustre – a rare find for a half sovereign over 125 years old. The obverse bears the classic Veil Head portrait of Queen Victoria, while the reverse displays the traditional St George and the Dragon design.
